Martin Edmond

Yes I was in a milieu that was a little bit unusual but I wasn’t aware of its unusualness. And I think that’s a blessing

While part one of Martin Edmond’s interview with Hamish Keith dealt with Martin’s biography on Philip Clairmont ‘Resurrecting Philip Clairmont’, part two looks at the author’s own life and career.
Martin Edmond is a writer of non-fiction, poetry, biography and screenplays and has been the recipient of many awards and fellowships. Terra Nova, for which he wrote the screenplay, won Best Film at the Montreal Film Awards in 1998. Martin was also part of the New Zealand avant-garde theatre group, Red Mole.

In March 2009, Edmond’s The Supply Party was released, an account of the life and death of Ludwig Becker, the artist and scientist on the doomed Burke and Wills expedition across Australia. Steal Away Boy, edited by Martin Edmond and Nigel Roberts, was published by Auckland University Press in 2010.
