I listen to talkback at night…I hear what people are talking about, the issues they have in life and I think ‘Wow – I’ve seen that. I tell their stories through the lens of my camera.

In this Emerging Icons interview photographer Drew Hill unravels his creative journey – the changes he has made in his processes and the varied projects he has undertaken over the last 25 years he has been shooting street photography.

He also reveals what has remained steadfast throughout his work and life; his politics, love of Tikanga Māori, the need to remain raw to the truth. Drew’s work has been sold and exhibited throughout New Zealand, in Hong Kong and Australia.
